Despite a broken immigration system, immigration reform has not been passed in this country since 1996. However, the November election has proven that the Government can no longer ignore the powerful voice that is the Latino community. To that end, both Democrats and Republicans alike have acknowledged that comprehensive immigration reform must be passed in the near future. The question, therefore, is what type of immigration reform do we want passed?
As persons who will be directly affected by this upcoming reform, the responsibility is ours to make our voices heard. We have the power to create the type of reform that we want to see in this country. But we cannot exercise that power by staying silent. Millions of people have suffered because of the system that is now in place. Let’s seize this unique opportunity to change that system!!
Please join Junta Comunitaria Para una Reforma Migratoria on Monday, December 3, 2012 from 7-8 pm as we write personal stories to send to our Congressional Legislators documenting our immigration experiences here in the United States. The more letters we send, the more powerful our voice.
All the essential supplies and information will be provided. If you cannot attend this meeting please check back as we plan to meet twice more in the month of December.
This Monday’s meeting will be held from 7 -8 pm at the following location:
Cuarto de Confrencias de la Calle 1a
