Many believe that President Obama will lay out a plan for comprehensive immigration reform during his annual State of the Union Address on February 12th. All agree that Comprehensive legislation will be passed in 2013.
That means that now, more than ever, your voice matters! Between now and March Congress will debate what to include as part of the new immigration legislation. Will there be a path to citizenship for undocumented aliens living in the U.S.? Will Congress lift the cap on certain immigrant visas? What type of costs and penalties will be assessed as part of that process? You have to power to influence this debate by participating in Junta Comunitaria Para Una Reforma Migratoria.
Junta Comunitaria is a group of concerned citizens, residents, and workers from the Yakima Valley. We want broad, comprehensive immigration reform that would allow undocumented persons living and working in the United States to obtain legal permanent residency and citizenship.
For the past two months Junta Comunitaria has facilitated a letter writing campaign directed towards our Congressman, our Senators, and our President. People from all walks of life have come out to share their stories, their concerns, and their hopes for immigration reform. Join us this Monday and let your voice be heard. Congress is listening. It is up to you to do your part.
